PRESIDENT'S DAY.

Washington's Birthday is a United States federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of George Washington, the first President of the United States.Washington's Birthday has a history as old as our country. It was celebrated publicly for the first time in the late 18th century, while George Washington was still president.George Washington was the first president of the United States of America. His first term as president was from 1789 to 1793 and his second term from 1793 to 1797.There is the portrait of him and three other American presidents carved into Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota.Washington is often seen as the father of the United States and is probably the best known American politician ever.
Presidents’ Day is traditionally viewed as a time of patriotic celebration and remembrance.
In its modern from,a number of states also require that their public schools spend the days leading up to Presidents’ Day teaching students about the accomplishments of the presidents, often with a focus on the lives of Washington and Lincoln.
Although Lincoln's Birthday had never been designated as a federal holiday, it was observed as a state holiday in many parts of the country. However, after additional federal holidays were created for Columbus Day and the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., some states dropped the observance of Lincoln's Birthday as a separate holiday in order to maintain a fixed number of paid holidays per year.
