BLACK HISTORY MONTH.

Black History Month, also known as African-American History Month in America, is an annual observance in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom for remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African diaspora.The expansion of Black History Week to Black History Month was first proposed by the leaders of the Black United Students at Kent State University in February 1969.Black History Month was first celebrated in the United Kingdom in 1987.The first celebration of the Black History Month took place at Kent State one year later, in February 1970.

NELSON MANDELA.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born in 18 July 1918. He was South Africa's first black chief executive, and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election.Mandela was a controversial figure for much of his life.Beginning law studies at the University of Witwatersrand, Mandela was the only native African student, and though facing racism, he befriended liberal and communist European.Mandela supported Lembede's views, believing that black Africans should be entirely independent in their struggle for political self-determination. Found guilty of "statutory communism".On 5 December 1956, Mandela was arrested alongside most of the ANC Executive for "high treason" against the state.He is considered a hero.Retiring in June 1999, Mandela sought a quiet family life.He was highly image conscious, and throughout his life always sought out fine quality clothes, with many commentators believing that he carried himself in a regal manner.Mandela died on December 5,2013.
